International Biennale of Jewellery Art
Museo civico – Asolo (Italy) – from May the 7th to June the 24th 2022
From the May 7th 2022 Archeometra is sponsor of “Orizzonti d’Autore”, a contemporary art exhibition hosted in the halls of the Civic Museum of Asolo (Treviso-Italy).
This is an International Biennale of Art dedicated to contemporary jewellery: 70 extraordinary creations are exposed by Italian and foreign artists and jowellery desiners whose creativity and research reinterpreted the traditional goldsmith techniques in a brendnew and innovative syle.
At the opening of the Biennale the eminent “Archeometra Lifetime Achievement Award” will be awarded to the Italian Master Giampaolo Babetto. A special retrospective exibition of this artist is hosted in the Sala della Ragione of the Civic Museum.
The festival offers conferences, presentations, special guided tours and educational projects for children by the till of July.
We are happy to support this fascinating project, an example of love not only for contemporary art and beauty but even for the local culture of this territory. We are sure in the future it will become an important cultural appointment for visitiors of Asolo city and the Veneto region.
ORIZZONTI D’AUTORE
Jewelry is an object of daily use that has
accompanied the history of man for millennia.
Much more than a simple decorative element for
the body, jewelry has always encapsulated the
very history of human evolution, from
iconographic codes to religious beliefs, from
rites of passage to social status, from knowledge
of manufacturing techniques and materials to
the aesthetic norms of a given historical period.
The history, traditions and heritage left by past
civilizations influence in more or less dominant
ways the research of many artists and are then
reflected in their work, which turns out to be
both a dialogue with the past and an evidence
of our present for future civilizations.
Also the artists selected for Orizzonti d’Autore
have confronted themselves, each in their own
way, with the significance of history and the
responsibility of a legacy as a testimony of our
time. These artists have the strength to transmit
testimonies, legacies and critical thoughts.
Through a direct comparison with the past, the
use of age-old techniques reinvented in a
contemporary key, the reflection on complex
themes and the development of original
techniques and materials, the works on display in
this first edition of Orizzonti d’Autore transport
us on a journey through time, space and the life
experiences of their creators: they are true
testimonies of our time.

Archeometra Lifetime Achievement Award by Orizzonti d’Autore
Giampaolo Babetto
The decision to create a lifetime achievement award for fine jewelry is born to celebrate artists who have devoted their creative strenght and artistic research to the field of fine jewelry over a lifetime dedicated to art.
The first edition of the Archeometra Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Giampaolo Babetto for his contribution to elevating fine jewelry to a true art form alongside sculpture and painting.
The sculpture for the award was created by the Artist and Master Bruno Pedrosa.
