On the 26-27-28 of August 2021, in the enchanting setting of Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padova-Italy), we made our contribution to support Italian culture with the l\u2019 \u201cOrologio Ritrovato\u201d (Rediscovered Clock), a Festival of Baroque music concerts, digital art exposition, conferences and guided tours to discover the local artistic heritage.
An ambitious project that combines tradition and modernity, contemporary art and local history.<\/p>\n

The first time I discussed it with its creator, Mario Nardo, it was almost by chance, as we enjoyed a coffee together in San Martino di Lupari. I had dropped in to say \u2018hello\u2019 to a dear friend of mine, the artist Giordano Rizzardi, and there was Mario, talking about the project. We\u2019ve invested in cultural events in both the capital and Veneto. As well as our long-standing support for Cittadella Calcio football club (I\u2019m not that keen on football but I must admit that when Cittadella plays, even I get excited; I also think that Cittadella is an outstanding example of managerial professionalism and commitment to the region), we also support the youngsters in the Cittadella hockey team. Recently, in the middle of the Covid pandemic, we sponsored an important project, \u201cFrangiamore\u201d, where some of the most magical and artistic places in Rome acted as a backdrop for the high-fashion creations of Sylvio Giardina, one of the most interesting and innovative designers on the haute couture scene.<\/p>\n
The \u201cL\u2019Orologio ritrovato\u201d (Rediscovered clock) project is fascinating. The venue (one of the most beautiful in our region), live baroque music and digital art are three things that I find really interesting.
Archeometra was originally set up to work in cultural heritage and scientific dissemination. Not many people know this, but Archeometra worked on the majority of the archaeological digs at the Forum in Rome and it is thanks to a company from little-known Castelfranco that millions of tourists can now visit these treasures. We\u2019ve been involved in lots of projects of this kind: Pompeii, Algiers, churches in Umbria, the Basilica della Salute in Venice, these are just a couple that come to mind. For years we also managed the website of the Regional Institute of Venetian Villas and its online catalogue.
The venue for the event is therefore very much in line with our original remit, and I say that in all modesty. However, Archeometra has changed over the years: when we realised that Italy\u2019s investment in its cultural heritage was constantly dwindling, we decided to apply the technological expertise we had acquired managing and archiving historical and artistic records to information technology and the integration of complex IT systems. Now that I think about it, the company underwent a kind of Lamarckian evolution. While it was a difficult decision to make at the time, the results show it was the right one. For more than ten years, our turnover comes purely from IT projects.
I can\u2019t deny, however, that the thought of getting back into cultural heritage and tourism is very appealing: it\u2019s one of the sectors with the greatest potential in our country.
I\u2019ve always been passionate about music: I think I\u2019m addicted to it, like most of my colleagues for that matter. For me music is an existential driver. Our musical tastes at Archeometra vary enormously, from Bach\u2019s harpsichord variations to Cornell\u2019s high notes: infinite passions, just as music is infinite.
As far as digital art is concerned\u2026 well, I guess it\u2019s easier to understand the interest our company has in this. Art is the first line in man\u2019s experimentation, it is research and development into materials, colours and senses. It is also increasingly interactive and available to everyone. Art and contemporary installations can be our ticket to the future. From a business perspective, I\u2019m not interested in the critical or ethical-political issues that art raises, although they are aspects which affect me personally. In my capacity as CEO, I\u2019m interested in how much a work of art can represent an idea, a scenario or a prospect. The \u201cL\u2019Orologio ritrovato\u201d project addresses so many interesting topics. How could we not get involved?
So what would I like to get out of this project?
First of all, I love the idea of giving visitors the chance to enjoy a pleasant and interesting day out after these long months of uncertainty.
If I had to say what outcome I\u2019d like from a purely business point of view, I\u2019d be thrilled if some young people with a passion for IT were introduced to the company and reached out to us to join our team. Recruiting staff in software development and new technologies is a real challenge; you can\u2019t even find anyone to call for interview, even with the promise of a steady, attractive work contract. It\u2019s an old problem though and it\u2019s certainly not just down to students or universities but, first and foremost, to us entrepreneurs. If you want to make good wine, you can\u2019t do it overnight.
Nature goes at its own speed, as does common sense, and we can\u2019t hurry things up to suit us. One of my favourite quotations is: \u201cIdeas walk on men\u2019s legs\u201d. Lately we\u2019ve seen lots of ideas but, alas, not many legs. Pur non essendo una big company lavoriamo con colossi internazionali: \u00e8 un paradosso, eppure per la nostra regione Veneto \u00e8 spesso uno standard. Oltre allo storico rapporto con il Cittadella Calcio (non amo molto il calcio ma, devo ammetterlo, quando gioca il Cittadella qualche vibrazione la provo; inoltre ritengo il Cittadella uno straordinario esempio di seriet\u00e0 gestionale e di attaccamento al territorio), siamo a fianco dei giovani dell\u2019Hockey di Cittadella. La prima volta ne ho discusso con il suo ideatore Mario Nardo, \u00e8 stato quasi per caso, di fronte ad un caff\u00e8 di San Martino di Lupari. Ero passato per salutare un caro amico artista, Giordano Rizzardi, e ho trovato con lui Mario, che stava parlando del progetto. Dopo un \u201camarcord\u201d di saluti, Mario mi ha sintetizzato la sua idea. Lui \u00e8 sempre stato un riferimento, quasi una Wikipedia old style, per la musica. Al 23 di Padova, quando uscendo dall\u2019universit\u00e0 andavo a vedere se c\u2019era qualcosa di interessante da ascoltare, chiedevo a Mario cosa potevo portarmi a casa. Apprezzo in lui la preparazione e la volont\u00e0 di spendersi per iniziative che puntano a creare confronto e dialoghi su tematiche interessanti.\r\n\r\nIl progetto \u201cl\u2019Orologio ritrovato\u201d \u00e8 molto intrigante. Il luogo, uno dei pi\u00f9 belli della nostra Regione, la musica barocca dal vivo e l\u2019arte digitale. Tre componenti per me attraenti.\r\n\r\nArcheometra \u00e8 nata come impresa nel settore dei beni culturali e della divulgazione scientifica. Credo che pochi siano a conoscenza che Archeometra realizz\u00f2 buona parte degli scavi archeologici ai Fori Imperiali e che milioni di turisti oggi possono visitare queste bellezze anche grazie al contributo di una realt\u00e0 della piccola Castelfranco. Molti i progetti in questo ambito: Pompei, Algeri, Le chiese dell\u2019Umbria, La Basilica della Salute a Venezia, solo per citare quelli che mi vengono in mente ora. Per anni abbiamo avuto la gestione del portale dell\u2019Istituto Regionale delle Ville Venete e del catalogo online.\r\n\r\nIl luogo della manifestazione \u00e8 quindi, e lo dico con umilt\u00e0, in piena sintonia con le nostre radici. Archeometra, negli anni, \u00e8 per\u00f2 cambiata e ha deciso, a fronte di un Paese che investiva sempre meno nel settore dei beni culturali, di convertire le competenze tecnologiche acquisite nella gestione ed archiviazione delle informazioni storico artistiche, nel settore dell\u2019Information Technology e dell\u2019integrazione di sistemi informatici complessi. A pensarci bene, l\u2019impresa ha avuto un\u2019evoluzione di stampo lamarckiano. E\u2019 stata una scelta difficile ma, valutando i risultati, giusta. La nostra impresa da pi\u00f9 di 10 anni ha un fatturato proveniente da progetti puramente IT.\r\n\r\nNon nascondo, per\u00f2, che c\u2019\u00e8 da parte mia la forte propensione a rientrare nel ring dei beni culturali e del turismo: \u00e8 uno dei settori a pi\u00f9 alto potenziale del nostro Paese.\r\n\r\nLa musica \u00e8 sempre stata una mia grande passione: credo di essere un melomane, e lo \u00e8 anche per gran parte dei miei colleghi. Per me la musica \u00e8 un vero e proprio propellente esistenziale. In Archeometra i gusti sono vari. Si va dalle variazioni di clavicembalo di Bach agli acuti di Cornell: passioni infinite, come infinita \u00e8 la musica.\r\n\r\nQuanto all\u2019arte digitale\u2026 diciamo che capire il nostro interesse aziendale \u00e8 pi\u00f9 intuitivo. L\u2019arte \u00e8 la prima linea di sperimentazione dell\u2019umanit\u00e0, \u00e8 una divisione di ricerca e sviluppo materica, cromatica e sensoriale. \u00c8, inoltre, sempre pi\u00f9 interattiva e disponibile a tutti. L\u2019arte e le installazioni contemporanee possono essere un biglietto per il futuro. A livello di impresa non mi interessano gli aspetti critici o etico-politici che l\u2019arte comunque tocca, tutti aspetti che, pure, mi influenzano a livello personale. Qui, come responsabile di un\u2019impresa, mi interessa quanto un\u2019opera possa rappresentare un\u2019idea, uno scenario o una prospettiva. Il progetto \u201cl\u2019Orologio ritrovato\u201d tocca troppi punti interessanti. Che dire se non: non potevamo non esserci...\r\n\r\nCosa mi piacerebbe avere di ritorno da questo contributo?\r\n\r\nDirei, prima di tutto, che mi piace l\u2019idea di contribuire a far passare, dopo un lungo periodo di grande insicurezza, qualche giornata serena ed interessante ai visitatori.\r\n\r\nPoi, se dovessi guardare puramente alle ricadute imprenditoriali, mi piacerebbe che qualche giovane appassionato di informatica, approfondendo chi siamo, ci contattasse per poter far parte del nostro team. Il problema occupazione nel settore dello sviluppo software e delle nuove tecnologie \u00e8 enorme; non si riescono a trovare neppure persone per un colloquio, pur promettendo contratti stabili e robusti. Questo, per\u00f2, \u00e8 un problema che ha radici profonde e non \u00e8 di certo solo responsabilit\u00e0 degli studenti o delle Universit\u00e0 ma, in primis, di noi imprenditori. Se vuoi fare del buon vino non puoi produrlo dall\u2019oggi al domani.\r\n\r\nI tempi della natura \"come spesso quelli del buon senso\" non si possono accorciare a nostro uso e consumo. Cito spesso questa frase: \"le idee camminano con le gambe degli uomini\". Ultimamente ci sono sicuramente tante idee ma, ahim\u00e8, poche gambe.
